At HopeWorks, we get out in the community as much as possible to raise awareness of sexual, dating, and domestic violence. To further this mission, we offer a wide variety of free educational workshops, trainings , and information sessions for schools, businesses, civic organizations, and faith communities. We believe that education is the first step towards prevention of violence and makes our community healthier and safer. Following the simulation, you will explore the dynamics of domestic violence and hear about the mission and services of HopeWorks. The program includes an exploration of cultural norms and differentiates between risk reduction and primary prevention. Participants will develop the awareness and capacity to serve as agents of change in their communities. However, sensationalized awareness campaigns and gross media representation often prevent us from identifying and supporting survivors of trafficking domestically and locally. This workshop defines modern-day human trafficking with an overview of trafficking in Maryland and Howard County.

Relationships, from acquaintances to romances, have the potential to enrich our lives and add to our enjoyment of life. However, these same relationships can cause discomfort, and sometimes even cause harm see statistics from the American Bar Association.
This resources offers two different scenarios, including discussion questions, designed to help instructors teach students about healthy relationships and dating.
Healthy relationships are something all parents want for their children. In pre-school, we teach them how to be a good friend and how to play well with others. In the elementary grades, we teach them about bullies. According to the Centers for Disease Control , one in ten high school students has been purposefully hit, slapped, or physically hurt by a boyfriend or girlfriend. By teaching children the key elements to healthy relationships, teens and young adults are more likely to have healthy long-lasting relationships.
Yet it appears that parents, educators and other adults often provide young people with little or no guidance in developing these relationships. In other words, while most parents, schools, and educators are discussing abstinence, how to avoid pregnancy, and preventing sexually transmitted diseases, kids want more. Children want to know about how to love and be loved. You cannot talk about one without the other. Here are some key points to start the conversation with your child.
